What kind of review is this?

This is an evidence-based buyer’s guide, not a hands-on performance benchmark or a fabricated “9/10 review.” We have read the developer listing, Early Access announcements, troubleshooting notes and gameplay demonstrations. We have not completed the campaign ourselves, so we will not claim an invented completion time or numeric test result.

What looks promising

  • Environment as a mechanic: Survival hinges on cold, supply planning and how far your shelters let you travel.
  • Practical progression: The documented start teaches Stone tools, a fuelled Campfire, Horizon, a dog companion and a functioning first base.
  • Co-op up to four: The developer has already published exact host/join guidance and explains how characters bind to worlds.
  • Strong art direction: Official screenshots show a recognizable frozen-ruin atmosphere, separate from conventional green-forest survival maps.

What should make you wait

  • Launch-week stability: The developer’s October 9 support post recommends switching off graphics options, trying DX11 and reporting crashes. An RTX20/30 stability hotfix is also documented.
  • Early Access uncertainty: Recipe costs, content availability and balance may change; not every roadmap feature is in the live build.
  • Hardware demands: Recommended GPUs include the RTX 3070 Ti / RX 6750 XT tier and the minimum is 16 GB RAM. Meeting minimum does not guarantee your target frame rate.
  • No verified console release: Do not buy expecting a dated PS5 or Xbox edition to materialize soon.

Buy or wait? A practical decision matrix

Your preference Suggested choice
You enjoy testing unfinished survival systems and reporting bugs Early Access may be a fit
You mainly want a fully polished, stable campaign Wait for patch reports / later reviews
You plan to play with three friends on PC Review the co-op world-saving rules and host consistently
You have hardware under the official minimum Hold off until verified tests on your specific setup
You need PS5 or Xbox Wait for an actual console announcement

Check before you pay

The publisher announced a $24.99 US list price and a temporary 20% launch offer. Check the current pricing guide and your local Steam checkout; regional pricing differs.

Browse recent dated Steam user reviews, and read reviews written on hardware similar to yours. A single positive or negative launch-day post doesn’t prove the future trajectory of an Early Access title.

For hard facts instead of impressions, use PC specs, known crash fixes and watchable real gameplay.
